When Magic Kingdom Becomes Messy Kingdom

I wasn’t going to write about the chaos at Hong Kong Disneyland over the past few days, since there’s already so much excellent commentary about it.

But as I watched HK Disneyland director Bill Ernest cry…

… the first word that popped up in my mind was: insincere.

Look mate. It’s not as if nobody warned you about Chinese New Year. Claiming that you didn’t know about the fact that the Chinese New Year holidays is four days longer in the mainland than in Hong Kong, is just plain ridiculous. Also, as I observed when I was at the theme park a week ago, it was clear that your staff is running out of patience… no, more than that, they were running out of courtesy and restraint, dealing with the horrors that are mainland Chinese tourists.

So when you suddenly start acting so emotional, you know, you look so fake. Your acting is even worse than your Cast Members.

By the way, Billy boy, the next big week in mainland China is the May 1st Labour Day holidays. Yes they get a weeklong break for that too. Which again is longer than the one day public holiday we get in Hong Kong then. Yes it is less than three months away. Which is less than half of the validity period of your discount flexible tickets. It seems you have learned a bit by not marking the period Regular days, but we’ll see.
