Success!

Hooray! The draft bill is delayed!

Clear the memory!

Note to self: if using malloc(3), always call memset(3) immediately afterwards to clear the allocated memory. You will regret it otherwise.

It’s Not Enough

Well, it only took our beloved Chief Executive three days to make 3 concessions on the proposed Article 23 bill. Actually there are only 2 concessions—while the part about proscribing local groups that are linked to banned mainland groups is deleted from the draft bill, the Secretary of Security still reserves the right to decide which groups are participating in separatist activities.

But the government still wants to pass the bill on July 9.

This shows how out of touch the government is with the people of Hong Kong. They went to the streets on July 1 not only because of what is in the draft, but also because of how the bill is rammed through LegCo. The government addressed a small part of what is wrong with the draft (merely four days before the final debate in LegCo), but they have not addressed what is wrong with the process—arguably more important of the two.

Don’t think you can cheat us all, Mr. Tung.

The Rally

Someone who participated in yesterday’s rally in Hong Kong recorded the event by taking a few photos along the way.

Shock and Awe

I watched this evening’s TVB news on TVBJ. Streets filled with black-clothed demonstrators, the MTR choked full of people heading to Tin Hau and Causeway Bay… the number of people there on the streets is simply amazing, to say the least.

But what would Tung say? The people were misled? If somebody is so persuasive that he can mislead several hundreds of thousands of people, I think Tung should immediately hire him to be the government’s PR.

July 1st

Well, today is the day. If you’re in Hong Kong, join the protests starting from Victoria Park at 3pm. It could be the last chance we ordinary Hong Kong citizens have for freely voicing our opinions.

If I’m in Hong Kong today I most certainly would go. But I’m not, and instead I have joined what many Hong Kong webmasters are doing today, and made this page black.
