Why doesn’t IE support CSS2 font matching?! Why can’t I simply use ◀ anywhere (like this: ◀), without caring what the font-family of the current style is, and expect it to work? Why?! It goes without saying that it works fine in Mozilla.
BTW ◀ or U+25C0 is supposed to be a left-pointing solid triangle.
I have been working on non-BMP characters support for Pango for a while:
Notice the screenshot shows a screenful of characters with 5-digit Unicode canonical values. Of course, apart from using a non-BMP-capable Pango, a font that actually has some non-BMP glyphs is also needed.
Well… I’ve made this XHTML 1.0 and CSS2 compliant. I should have been studying for the Organisational Behaviour exam though.
